About Us

Healthcare is way too complicated. We are SWVA Direct Primary Care, and we believe that families should have access to care that's focused on the right things—you.

We know how busy you are, and how hard it can be to find time for yourself in a busy day at  work or running to ballgames. At SWVA Direct Primary Care, our goal is to make sure that you get the attention and care you deserve, whether it's a routine checkup or a serious illness. We're not just trying to fix your symptoms—we want to understand what's going on with you, so we can come up with a reasonable plan of action that works best for you as an individual.

Dr. Jarrod Couch graduated from Lincoln Memorial University- DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed residency training in Family Medicine at Johnston Memorial Hospital, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Couch is board certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and a member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians. Dr. Couch is Adjunct Faculty at LMU-DCOM and Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Take Back Control of Your Healthcare!

  • Does Direct Primary Care require a long-term commitment?
We only require a 3 month minimum period of enrollment. This is so we can both be committed to investing time and energy into your health and long-term goals. We are not an Urgent Care.
  • Can I still see specialists if I have Direct Primary Care?
Yes, you can still see specialists if you have Direct Primary Care. Despite not taking insurance here, we can refer you to a specialist and send your medications to your pharmacy. In this regard, no different that what you are used to. We have the ability to make your insurance better.
  • Can I just come for one visit? I just need my "annual physical."
If you’re just looking for a one-time annual physical, there are plenty of places that can do that for you. They’ll ask the same handful of questions they ask everyone else, listen to your heart and lungs just enough to check the box, run the same three labs they run on everyone, and call you a few days later to tell you everything looks “normal.” If that’s what you need, feel free to call them — they’re good at it. But if you’re looking for something more — a true relationship with a doctor who actually knows you, who takes the time to help solve even the “small” problems before they become big ones — that’s where Direct Primary Care come in. If you want a real medical home, a place where when things go wrong, you can get in quickly and be seen by someone who truly understands your history and cares about your future, then you’re in the right place. We build lasting partnerships, not one-and-done visits. And that's the kind of care we believe everyone deserves.
  • What is Direct Primary Care?
Direct Primary Care is a new model of healthcare where patients pay a monthly fee to have access to comprehensive medical care from a primary care physician. This model is different from traditional insurance-based healthcare because it eliminates the middleman and reduces the cost of care. Additionally, this allows us to provide more personalized care and remain available when you need us.
  • Do you take my insurance?
No, at our Direct Primary Care practice, we are proud not to accept insurance — and we believe that’s one of the best things about what we offer. Whether you have great insurance, poor insurance, or no insurance at all, it makes no difference to us. We chose this model because we believe healthcare works best when there’s no middleman standing between you and your doctor. By keeping insurance companies out of the exam room, we can spend more time with you, offer more personalized care, and actually save you money in the long run. It's healthcare the way it was always meant to be — simple, direct, and focused entirely on you.
